History of the Charlotte Bobcats
Entering their 5th season in the NBA, the Bobcats were awarded to Charlotte almost immediately after the Hornets left for New Orleans. Two years later the Bobcats were playing NBA Basketball. The first draft for the team was Emeka Okafor who captured the 2004/05 Rookie of the Year award. The team was coached by Bernie Bickerstaff, who would coach for two seasons before being replaced by Sam Phillips after less than impressive outings.
Coach Phillips would last one season as the team until Michael Jordan became a minority owner and the team released him. Coach Phillips was replaced by Hall of Fame Player and Coach Larry Brown.
The Bobcats have not had any playoff appearances.
The only Team Award is the 2005 Rookie of the Year Award for Emeka Okafor.
