RECAP: The Mavs are hardly the power they used to be but don't blame Jason Kidd or Dirk Nowitzki for last season. In 2011, both are a year older and much like their archrivals, the San Antonio Spurs, age is quickly becoming an issue. Half of the current roster is 30 years old or older (Caron Butler-30, Brendan Haywood-30, Jason Kidd-37, Marion-32, Nowitzki-32, Jason Terry-32 and Tim Thomas-32).

The draft may prove some help down the line as the Mav's selected South Florida grad SG Dominique Jones but traded FSU C Solomon Alabi to Toronto. In other moves, the Mavericks traded C Erick Dampier, G. Matt Carroll and F Eduardo Najera to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for C Tyson Chandler and F/C Alexis Ajinca. The team also signed former Spurs C Ian Mahinmi to a two-year minimum deal. "I had three great years with San Antonio-great system, great coaching, great organization-and I feel very blessed to have those three years there," Mahinmi said. "But now I feel like it's a new chapter in my life, and I want to really bring my talents to Dallas and do everything I can to make that team even more successful."
