History of the Heat
The Heat, entering their 20th season, have regularly made the playoffs since 1992. In the 1996/97 season, the Heat made it into the Eastern Conference Finals where they met up against the Chicago Bulls and were eliminated.
The next time the Heat would see the Eastern Conference Finals they faced a tough Detroit Pistons team that eliminated the Heat in 7 games. The next season, 2005/06, the Heat would get over the hump as they eliminated the Nets and the Wizards and met up again with the Defending Champion Detroit Pistons. They would eliminate the Pistons in 5 games and earned the right to face the Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks. The Heat took the Mavericks to 7 games and claimed the 2006 NBA Championship.
The Heat have made the playoffs 12 times in 20 seasons, have won 5 Division Championships (1997, 98, 99, 2000, 05, 06 and 07), have gone to the Conference Finals 3 times (1997, 2005 and 2006) and have gone to the NBA Finals 1 time (2006) and have won 1 Championship (2006).
