History: What began as the Tangerine Bowl in 1947 became the Florida Citrus Bowl in 1983. In 2001, the Financial Services Company Capitol One became the title sponsor with the moniker of Capital one Bowl being used since 2003. Last season featured the University of Alabama against Michigan State with Alabama running away with 49-7 victory. The current payout for the Capitol One Bowl is $4.25 million.
