History: The Fiesta Bowl came into existence in 1971 and by 1986 was sponsored by Sunkist. In 1993, IBM took over sponsorship for two seasons until Tostitos, a division of Frito-Lay, took the sponsorship over in 1996 and now pays out $17 million. Last season, Oklahoma took on Connecticut in a thrilling game which ended with OU running roughshod over Connecticut 48-20.
