History: : Initially sponsored by the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts who held it until 2004, it was not until 2006 when a new sponsor came a calling. R & L Carrier freight lines, based out of Wilmington, Ohio, had grown since its inception in 1965 to cover all 50 states and beyond employing over 12,000 people. In 2006 they took over sponsorship and have committed to the bowl game throughout 2011. Last season the game featured Troy against Ohio State with Troy taking their 2nd New Orleans bowl in three attempts.
