History: The inaugural TicketCity Bowl happened January 1, 2011 and matched Northwestern against Texas Tech and was put into the NCAA post-season bowl schedule as a replacement for the Cotton Bowl which moved to Cowboys Stadium. Texas Tech took the first game in a high scoring shootout 45-38. The payout for both teams is $1.2 million.
