Former Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce Knowles is back out on the road with her third solo album “I Am…Sasha Fierce”. The Houston Native is the daughter of Houston Native and successful record manager Mathew Knowles. By age 8, Beyonce had met LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland. LeToya Luckett joined in 1993 and the band auditioned before and were signed by Elektra Records but were dropped before the album could be released.
In 1993, the group changed their name to Destiny’s Child (from a passage in the Book of Isaiah) and were signed to Columbia Records late 1997. The same year they recorded “Killing Time” for the soundtrack to the 1997 major motion picture Men In black. The next year, the group released it’s self titled debut album which had the hit “No, no, no” and won best R&B/Soul Album of the Year as well as Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist.
By 2000, Knowles signed a three-album deal with Columbia Record and by 2003 released her debut solo album “Dangerously in Love” and debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at Number 1. She also landed major film roles in Carmen: a Hip Hopera, Austin Powers Goldmember and The Fighting Temptations.
In 2004, Beyonce reunited with Rowland and Williams for the “Destiny Fulfilled” album which spawned three top 40 hits. Knowles also landed another movie role opposite Steve Martin in The Pink Panther then in 2005 landed the role of Deena Jones in Dreamgirls. To coincide with her birthday, Knowles released B’Day in September 2006 which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard top 200.
On November 18, 2008, Knowles released “I am…Sasha Fierce” which spawned to singles “If I were a Boy” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and began her “I Am” tour in Spring 2009
