Parrotheads rejoice! Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band have embarked on a new Summer Tour dubbed the "Under the Big Top Tour".
Jimmy has been described as the "Mark Twain of Music, and a "True American Storyteller." Truth is Jimmy Buffett has been making honest music for the better part of 4 decades. While his first release hardly made a dent in the music world, it was his 2nd release under ABC-Dunhill Records entitled Living and Dying in ¾ Time was a huge success with the single "Come Monday" which became his first Top 30 hit.
By 1974, had put together a group of musicians and the Coral Reefer Band was formed and for the next two decades they toured the south like nobody's business. "He was selling 100,000 albums when nobody in the industry knew who Jimmy Buffett was," recalls Jack Tarver, Jr., a former concert promoter who used to book Buffett into Atlanta's Great Southeast Music Hall in the early 1970's.
In 1977, Jimmy's "Changes in Latitude" is released and hits #12 on the Billboard Charts as the single "Margaritaville" rises to #8. This was the first of many million plus selling albums.
