PHISH SUMMER TOUR 2009
The Phish Summer tour kicked off in Wantagh, NY with two shows June 4th And 5th. Phish, who has not released any new material since 2004’s “Undermind”, which peaked out at # 46 on the Billboard Charts. The band broke up soon after in 2004 and reunited in 2009 for a series of shows and a summer tour. They are scheduled to release “Party Time” July28, 2009 and tour in support of that record.
Phish first came together and prominence in 1983 as Blackwood Convention and held their first gig on Halloween night 1983 at the University of Vermont ROTC Dorm. By 1993 and now with Elektra Records, they were headlining major amphitheaters across the United States and in 1994 released “Hoist” and the band began getting more air time.
In 2000 the band went on hiatus and would not get back together for over two years. The band, reunited, went into the studio and recorded “Round Room” in three days but would tour only sporadically and by 2004 were holding their final show in front of 65,000 people where they all started, in Coventry for a emotional goodbye.
In early 2008, 3 of the 4 members of the band performed together over the 4th of July weekend and again in September 08 for the wedding of their former Road Manager. In October, the band announced three shows in March 09 which stretched to a Late Summer Tour. Recently, the band got back in the studio to record their 12th album, “Party Time” which is scheduled for release later in 2009. Be sure to get your Phish Tickets as soon as they go on sale!
