2011 Season Outlook: With all the talk about the Green Bay Packers, the Bears may be able to stay under the radar for some time but eventually their talent will begin to be known to the rest of the league if they can survive their first 10 games, six of which come against top ranked teams. If they run that gauntlet with at least a 5-5 record, they should be able to get back into the playoffs.
Recap: The shake up after a disappointing 7-9 2009 season was to be expected. Gone are the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, tight ends coach, and offensive line coach and quality control assistants. Defensive coordinator Bob Babich was moved back to his old position as the Linebackers coach. The franchise brought in Mike Martz to take over as the Offensive Coordinator, Mike Tice as the offensive line coach, and Mike DeBord as the tight ends coach. Rod Marinelli took over as the Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. The franchise also brought in former 49er’s QB coach Shane Day, QC coaches Andrew Hayes-Stoker and Mikal Smith.
Player wise, the Bears drafted Florida FS Major Wright, DE Corey Wootten, CB Joshua Moore, QB Dan LeFevour and OT J’Marcus Webb. In a major loss to the team, DE Gaines Adams passed away on January 17, 2010 of cardiac arrest.
