In 1989 and organization by the name of Touchdown Jacksonville was formed.  Their main goal was to lure a third NFL Franchise to Florida and Jacksonville in particular.  For 5 years, the organization planned and sold a lot of Season Ticket Applications.  Though the NFL was still skeptical but impressed with the organizations commitment and dedication and awarded them a franchise to begin playing in 1995.

The first game played in the new Jacksonville Memorial Stadium matched the Jags against the Houston Oilers in front of 72,623 fans.  The Jags would lose 10-3 but in a rematch would beat the Oilers 17-16.  The team finished with a 4-12 record.

The 1996 season got off in style as the Jags knock off the Defending AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.  The team would finish the season at 9-7 and march into the playoffs and into a Wild Card Playoff game against the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo where no team had yet to win a postseason game.  The Jags would continue their winning ways as they handed the heavily favored Bills a 30-27 loss to advance to the Divisional Playoffs against the Denver Broncos.  Listed as 14-point underdogs, the Jags march into Denver and dispatched the Broncos with a gutsy 30-27 victory to advance to the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots in New England.  The Patriots would take advantage of turnovers and score 17-points off of them as the Cinderella season for the Jaguars came to a screeching halt with a 20-6  thumping by the Patriots.

In the 1997 season, the Jaguars pick up where they left off winning an impressive 11-games to 5-losses.  In the playoffs, the Jags would again meet up with the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card but this time the Broncos hammer the Jags 42-17, knocking them out of the playoffs.

The 1998 season saw the Jags off to a great 5-0 start as the team marched to another 11-5 season and the AFC Central Title.  In the Playoffs, the Jags would dispatch the New England Patriots 25-10.  In the Divisional Playoff however, the Jags would lose out to the New York Jets 34-24 thus ending their season but the foundation for a better future was laid.

The 1998 season saw the Jags again get off to a fast start in route to a 14-2 season record.   That saw  a dominate defense that allowed only 217 points.    In the Divisional Round of the Playoffs, the Jags would dominate their in-state rivals the Miami Dolphins 62-7 posting the second larges margin of victory (55points) in the NFL and the longest run ever in an NFL Playoff Game (Fred Taylor’s 90-yard run).  Entering the AFC Championship game, the Jags were for once heavily favored against the Tennessee Titans.  The Jags would take a 14-10 lead into halftime but in the 2nd half, the Titans  would shut down the Jags en route to a 33-14 victory and the first trip to the Super Bowl for the Titans.

Between 2000 and 2003 the Jags would post a 24-40 (.375) and would not return to the playoffs.  In 2004,  the Jags finally posted a winning 9-7 record good enough for 2nd place in the AFC South..  The 2005 season saw the Jags post a 12-4 record and would end their season  with a 28-3 thrashing by the New England Patriots.

The 2007 season saw the Jags post a winning 11-5 record.  In the playoffs, the Jags would defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-29 winning their first playoff game in 8 seasons. The Jags, however, would go down to the undefeated New England Patriots 31-20
