2011 Season Outlook: The Titans should improve under the leadership of new Head Coach Mike Munchak. He has the respect of his players and has surrounded himself with a top notch coach staff(OC Chris Palmer, DC Jerry Gray). On top of that, their draft selections were top notch (# 10 overall pick QB Jake Locker, # 39 overall pick LB Akeem Ayers), and his veterans are young and hungry with only seven players on the roster with ten or more years experience.
Recap: Head coach Jeff Fischer is hoping to improve on his team’s 8-8 record and get back into the playoffs that have eluded the franchise since their 2008 matchup and loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Titans are having a handful of off field distractions that could well prove very detrimental to the team. The most recent was the arrest of QB Chris Simms on suspicion of marijuana use.
The draft proved a treasure trove as the Titans watched DE Derrick Morgan slip to the 16th slot where Fischer pulled the trigger on the 6’4” 270 lb Georgia Tech grad. In the third round, the Titans picked up WR Damian Williams, the big-play receiver out of USC and Rennie Curran, an intense 5’11” LB out of Georgia.
