Synopsis:
42nd Street is a musical based
on the classic 1933 movie musical
of the same name. The focus is on
a buoyant naive young dancer named
Peggy Sawyer who arrives to audition
for the new Julian Marsh extravaganza
set to open on Broadway starring
aging leading lady Dorothy Brock.
It's she and these wonderful hoofers
that "42nd Street" so
effusively and proudly celebrates.
The original 1980 production of
42nd Street was one of the Great
White Way's longest-running hits,
running for 3,486 performances under
the watchful eye of legendary producer
David Merrick.
