One of the most successful Musicals to ever run has packed up its stages and stage hands and hit the road for a US Tour beginning in May of 2008 and continuing on through November 10, where it wraps up in Edmonton, Alberta.
The show, based off of a book penned by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicolas Dante. The original lyrics were written by Edward Kleban and the music composed by Marvin Hamlish. It tells the story of 17 dancers who are vying for 8 positions, four boy and four girl positions. The show progresses through each of the dancers’ lives, life experiences and aspirations. The show finally reaches the final eight dancers and falls into the finale which reveals its thematic root: Bravo to any dancer “gypsy” who steps foot onstage.
