Released November 4th, 2008, Incanto sold a remarkable 1.5 million copies in a four month period after release. It hit the top then in four countries and made it to No. 7 in the World Top 40. Bocelli, on tour since May 2009, will continue on thru August 11, 2009 where he will play in Glasgow.
Bocelli began his career in 1992 when then Italian rock star Zucchero held open auditions for tenors who was recording the song Miserere form his album to send to Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti to try and lure him to sing it with him on his album. Upon hearing Bocelli, Pavarotti informed Zucchero that there was no finer voice for his duet that what was sent to him, that of Bocelli and urged him to keep Bocelli on the record.
Bocelli signed with Sugar Records in 1993 and his debut album went platinum within weeks of release. His second self titled effort achieved double platinum sales in Italy. In September of 1994 he made his debut in the opera as Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth.
