Recap: Manager Cito Gaston is in the final year of his contract and already knows he won't be around next season but will make sure GM Alex Anthopouos doesn't trade 3B/OF Jose Bautista. The rest of the team is hoping the same thing. "I hope that Alex will bring him back," Gaston said. "I can see him here for a few years, but I'm not going to be here, so it's not up to me."

Injuries are also playing a role in the team's struggles. SS Yunel Escobar is supposed to be back in the lineup by the 22nd of July. LF Fred Lewis (sprained ankle) is day to day, RHP Dustin McGowan underwent right shoulder surgery and will miss all of 2010 and possibly 2011 and RHP Dirk Hayshurst will mis the entire season with a right shoulder surgery.
