Recap: The 6th season for the Nationals didn't have a great beginning but after posting a 59-103 record in 2009 (fewest wins in the Majors) there was no place to go but up. That was until all the injuries took over this season. On the DL as of now are RHP Luis Atilano (bone chips in his right elbow), RHP Tyler Walker (shoulder inflammation), LHP Scott Olsen (left shoulder inflammation), RHP Jason Marquis (loose bodies in his right elbow), RHP Chein-Ming Wang (right shoulder surgery in July 2009), RHP Jordan Zimmermann (Tommy John surgery) and RHP Garrett Mock (cervical spine injury). Other injuries include C Jesus Flores who underwent shoulder and elbow surgery in 2009).

Injuries are also playing a role in the team's struggles. SS Yunel Escobar is supposed to be back in the lineup by the 22nd of July. LF Fred Lewis (sprained ankle) is day to day, RHP Dustin McGowan underwent right shoulder surgery and will miss all of 2010 and possibly 2011 and RHP Dirk Hayshurst will miss the entire season with a right shoulder surgery.

The team's current pitching rotation and bullpen:

RHP David Carpenter
RHP Doug Fister
LHP Gio Gonzalez
RHP Casey Janssen
LHP Felipe Rivero
RHP Tanner Roark
RHP Max Scherzer
RHP Drew Storen
RHP Stephen Strasburg
LHP Matt Thornton
