New York Mets Information

SEASON RECORD: 39-55 (0.415) as of July 18th
STATUS: 13.5 game(s) back, 5th in the National League East

Recap: The NY Mets are looking to overcome their injury plagued 2009 season and are looking to OF Jason Bay, who signed 4-year $65 million dollar contract in January. Brian Stokes was sent to the Dodgers for OF Gary Matthews Jr and Carlos Beltran is expected to play by the 19th of July after undergoing knee surgery in January 2010. The team is also getting back pitcher Oliver Perez who had been on the DL since June. Perez is looking to break back into the starting lineup but is not complaining about just what his role is. "Right now I'm not thinking about the money," Perez added. "I'm just thinking about helping my team. When I'm wearing that uniform, I feel honored. That's what my father told me, wherever you go, try to do the best for your team. You have to have honor to wear that jersey because that's why you work."
