Recap: Shakeup is the word in Arizona and the Diamondbacks are no exception. On the first of July, the franchise fired Manager A.J. Hinch and promoted Bench Coach Kirk Gibson to the top spot. Also gone is General Manager Josh Byrnes.
Coach Gibson has been keeping his focus on the bullpen since taking over and it seems the extra film time has helped some. In the last 12 innings, the relievers have given up only 1 run while splitting their recent series against the Marlins.
One bright spot in the season was Edwin Jackson’s no hitter on June 25th at Tropicana Field against the Rays. Jackson walked 8 batters and struck out six in a 149 pitch outing.
