Recap: The Chicago Cubs are in a tough spot at the moment. Derrick Lee is still mulling over leaving the team and the offense is struggling against the competition. As an example, the Cubbies have allowed only 3 runs in 45 games this year which equates to a 26-19 record. On the other end of the spectrum, The Braves record in which they’ve allowed only 3 runs is 40-12 which points directly at the offensive troubles the Cubs are experiencing.
The team is also watching injuries mount on the club. RHP Brian Schliter is on the DL as is LHP John Grabow and RHP Esmailin Caridad. RHP Angel Guzman underwent right shoulder surgery in March, was transferred to the 60-day DL on the 31st of May. He is now out for the season.
The team’s current rotation and bullpen are:
| Rotation | Bullpen |
|---|---|
| RHP Ryan Dempster RHP Randy Wells RHP Carlos Silva LHP Ted Lilly LHP Tom Gorzelanny | RHP Carlos Marmol (closer) LHP Sean Marshall RHP Bob Howry RHP Andrew Cashner RHP Mitch Atkins RHP Justin Berg LHP James Russell |
Look for the Cubbies to make a run at the NL Central title and battle the Brewers, Cards and Reds for supremacy so come on out and support them!
