2011 Season Outlook: The Vikings could be on the verge of downfall that will take some time to recover from. The offense is struggling while their defense will hold most teams. The lack of a cohesive offensive line will doom any QB that is behind center. Look for the Vikings to try and get into the So. Cal. OT Matt Kalil sweepstakes sooner than later.

Recap:  The Brett Favre countdown is on and Head Coach Brad Childress is willing to wait on Brett before making a move on the QB situation. With a stable of inconsistent QB’s on the roster (Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels) a move for a solid starter should be on the top of the list. Favre led the Vikings to a 12-4 record and a 1st place finish in the NFC North. They won their Divisional Playoffs against the Dallas Cowboys 34-3 but lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.

In the draft, the Vikings selected Virginia CB Chris Cook with the 34th overall selection. With their 51st pick, they selected Stanford RB Toby Gerhart and late in the draft, in the 6th round with the 199th overall selection picked up UAB QB/WR Joe Webb. In 2008, Webb became the first player in NCAA history to pass for more than 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 in consecutive seasons.

Look for the Vikings to have another strong year with the leadership Brett Favre will provide. If Favre doesn’t answer the bell, then the Vikings may be in for a long frustrating season. In either case, Vikings fans will be out in full force supporting their team. Be sure to get your tickets to a Vikings game soon!
